Step 1. Make sure your washing machine is unplugged from the power outlet before starting this repair in order to prevent electrocution.
Step 2. Pry your machine’s lower front access panel off the cabinet, then set it aside. Use a Torx screwdriver to loosen the screws holding the top panel to the cabinet.
Step 3. Pull the top panel backwards about an inch or so, then lift it off the machine. Pull the soap tray out of the detergent dispenser, then set it aside.
Step 4. With your Torx screwdriver, loosen the screws holding the control panel to the front of the cabinet. Pry the panel off the machine.
Step 5. Note the positioning of the electrical connectors attached to the control board, then unplug each one. Set the control panel aside.
Step 6. Open your washing machine’s door and use your screwdriver to loosen the screws securing the door lock assembly.
Step 7. Using a flat-blade screwdriver or a pair of needle-nosed pliers, carefully pry the retaining wire off the door gasket.
Step 8. With your Torx screwdriver, loosen the nuts holding the front panel to the cabinet (there should be four screws at the top and four at the bottom).
Step 9. Pull the entire panel upwards, then lift it off the cabinet. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to pry the inner retaining wire off the door seal.
Step 10. Peel the door seal off the drum and discard it. Remove your new washing machine door gasket from its packaging.
Step 11. Fit the new door gasket around the drum. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to fit the inner retaining wire around the door gasket.
Step 12. Lift the front panel carefully and mount it on the cabinet. Use your Torx screwdriver to apply the screws at the top and bottom of the panel.
Step 13. Snap the lower front access panel onto the cabinet. Open your washer’s door.
Step 14. Push the door lock back into place, then apply all the screws using your Torx screwdriver.
Step 15. Fit the new door seal around the front panel. Use your flat-blade screwdriver to fit the outer retaining band around the door gasket.
Step 16. Plug each electrical connector into its appropriate terminal on the control board. Snap the panel onto the machine, then apply all the screws with your Torx screwdriver.
Step 17. Slide the detergent tray into the housing. Put the top panel back onto the machine, then use your screwdriver to apply the screws at the back. Plug your washing machine’s power cord back into the outlet.
