Step 19. Turn the tub over and knock the new outer bearing into place with your mallet (be careful not to damage the drum or the new bearings).

Step 20. Lower the bottom half of the outer tub onto the inner tub shaft. Put the pulley wheel back onto the tub assembly and apply the mounting bolt to secure it.

Step 21. Turn the tub assembly over. Put the front half of the outer tub back on and use your socket wrench to apply all the screws.

Step 22. Hook the two suspension springs back onto the tub. With the help of another person, lift the tub assembly by the springs and put it back into the cabinet. Hook each spring on the cabinet.

Step 23. Put the spring retaining straps back on and apply the screws to secure them. Connect the vent tube back to the port at the top of the outer tub.

Step 24. Go to the back of your washing machine and connect each electrical connector back to its appropriate terminal on the control board. Install the control board in the cabinet and apply the mounting screws with your screwdriver.

Step 25. Place the counter-weight back onto the back of the outer tub. Use your socket wrench to tighten the two mounting bolts.

Step 6. Release the air pressure tube from the retainer on the tub cover. Pry the tabs on the tub cover off the outer tub and set the tub cover aside.

Step 7. Use your socket wrench to take out the two bolts holding the trunnion block mounting bolts. Take the block out of the washing machine and set it aside. Lift the inner tub out of the tub assembly.

Step 8. Release the brass ring from the gasket by pushing it downwards. Pull the brass ring and gasket off the shaft and set them aside. Use your Philips screwdriver to take out the two screws holding the motor shield to the side of the tub.

Step 9. Place a towel on the floor of your washing machine’s cabinet. Use a pair of pliers to press the clamp holding the drain outlet hose to the tub and slide it out of place. Disconnect the drain hose from the tub (some water will spill out).

Step 10. Disconnect the air pressure tube from the port at the side of the drum. Use your socket wrench to take out the three mounting bolts at the base of the outer tub. Pull the outer tub off the shaft and set it aside.

Step 11. Pull the spacer off the drive shaft. Take out the bolt holding the transmission pulley with a 3/8 inch socket wrench. Take the pulley out and set it aside.

Step 12. Use your socket wrench to take out the bolts holding the transmission bearing block to the mounting plate. Pull the transmission assembly out of your washing machine and set it aside.

Step 13. Take your new washing machine transmission out of its packaging. Use your socket wrench to take out the new bolts in the new transmission bearing block.

Step 14. Position the new transmission assembly on the mounting plate and apply the bolts to secure it. If applicable, slide the new provided drive block onto the transmission assembly. If your new transmission assembly doesn’t come with a new block, just transfer the block from the old one.

Step 15. Position the transmission pulley on the drive shaft and secure it by applying the bolt. Slide the space back onto the shaft. Lower the inner tub onto the shaft and apply the three bolts on the base.

Step 16. Connect the air pressure tube back to the pressure dome at the side of the tub. Connect the drain hose back to the outlet port at the bottom of the tub. Secure the hose by sliding the retaining clamp into place with a pair of pliers.

Step 17. Put the motor shield back against the tub and apply the two screws to secure it. Slide the gasket and brass ring down the shaft. Push them down firmly to secure.

Step 18. Lower the inner tub into the tub assembly. Put the trunnion block in place and use your socket wrench to tighten the two mounting bolts to secure it.

Step 19. Snap the tub cover onto the tub assembly. Secure the air pressure tube in the retainer on the tub cover.

Step 20. Place the agitator assembly inside the washing machine and secure it by applying the mounting bolt with your socket wrench. Put the dispenser cover and cup back onto the agitator.

Step 21. Push the idler pulley inwards and fit the drive belt back around the pulley wheels. Snap the front panel back onto your washing machine and use your Philips screwdriver to apply the two screws at the bottom.

Step 22. Lower the top panel and snap it into the cabinet. Peel the tape off your washing machine’s lid. Turn your washing machine’s power supply back on and try running a spin cycle to ensure that the issue has been fixed.

How To Replace Frigidaire Laundry Center Washing Machine Transmission

Here are the steps you’ll need to take to replace a damaged transmission assembly in your Frigidaire laundry center washing machine…

Step 1. In order to prevent electrocution and water leaks, make sure to shut off your washing machine’s water supply valve and unplug the power cord from the outlet before starting this repair.

Step 2. Get someone to help you move your washing machine forwards (this will give you more working space). detach the venting from the back of your washing machine using your screwdriver.

Step 3. Unscrew the HOT and COLD water inlet hoses from the ports at the back of your washing machine (you should keep a rag nearby to clean up any water leaks). Pull the drain hose out of your home drain.

Step 4. Insert a tool such as a putty knife under the main top panel of your washing machine to release the two retaining clips. Disconnect the lid lock electrical connector and pull the panel off your washing machine.

Step 5. Take out the two screws at the bottom of the front panel using a Philips screwdriver. Push the front panel downwards and lift it off your washing machine.

Step 6. Detach the four suspension rod springs from the tub cover. Take out the two mounting nuts at the back of your washing machine holding the control board mounting plate with a 5/16 inch nut driver.

Step 7. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to pry the plate out of the washing machine. Pull the control board housing housing out. Disconnect the electrical connectors for the tub components and release the wires from the retainers on the control board.

Step 8. Pass the tub component wires and connector through the opening in the dryer support panel. Push the control board assembly back into the housing.

Step 9. Go to the front of your washing machine. Use a 5/16 inch socket wrench to take out the bolt holding the grounding wire to the cabinet. With the help of another person, carefully tilt your washing machine backwards and lay it on the floor.

Step 10. Disconnect the air pressure tube from the port at the side of the tub. Cut the zip-tie holding the air pressure tube to the right suspension rod.

Step 11. Slide the four suspension rods downwards to take them off the outer tub. Place a towel on the floor of the cabinet. Use a pair of pliers to press the clamp on the drain hose connected to the bottom of the drum and slide the clamp out of place. Disconnect the hose from the tub (water will spill out).

Step 12. Carefully pull the tub assembly through the bottom of the cabinet and set it on the floor upright. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to pry the tabs on the tub cover to release it. Pull the tub cover off and set it aside.

Step 13. Pull the cap off the agitator. Use a 10mm socket with an extension to take out the bolt holding the agitator to the tub. Pull the agitator out of your washing machine and set it aside.

Step 14. Take out the two bolts holding the tub mounting hub to the transmission shaft using a 6mm Allen wrench. Lift the inner tub off the tub assembly and set it aside.

Step 15. Turn the outer tub over and lay it on the floor. Take out the four mounting bolts holding the drive belt cover using a 10mm socket wrench. Take the drive belt cover off and set it aside.

Step 16. Carefully pull the drive belt off the two pulleys. Disconnect the electrical connector of the clutch actuator. Use your 10mm socket to take out the two bolts holding the clutch actuator. Set the actuator aside.

Step 17. Use a pair of needle-nosed pliers to release the wires from the retainers on the transmission plate. Take out the eight mounting bolts holding the transmission plate to the bottom of the machine using a 3/8 inch socket. Pull the transmission off the tub and set it aside.

Step 18. Take your new transmission assembly out of its packaging. Use a 17mm socket wrench to take out the mounting bolt holding the transmission pulley. Take the pulley off the old transmission and transfer it to the new one. Apply the bolt to secure it.

Step 19. Mount the new transmission assembly at the bottom of the outer tub. Apply the eight bolts with your socket wrench to secure it. Snap all the wire retainers into the openings on the new transmission plate.

Step 20. Put the clutch actuator back into place and use your socket wrench to apply the bolts. Connect the electrical connector back to the actuator.

Step 21. Carefully loop the drive belt around the transmission pulley and the motor pulley (the grooved part of the belt should be facing downwards). Put the drive belt cover back on and use your socket wrench to apply the four mounting bolts.

Step 22. Turn the outer tub over and lower the inner tub onto the shaft. Secure the inner tub mounting hub to the shaft by applying the two bolts with your Allen wrench.

Step 23. Place the agitator bolt on the end of a 10mm socket with an extension. Turn the agitator over and carefully push the socket wrench with the bolt into the opening. Lower the agitator into the washing machine and apply the bolt to secure it. Put the agitator cap back on.

Step 24. Snap the tub cover onto the outer tub. Carefully lift the tub assembly back into the cabinet. Connect the air pressure hose back to the port at the side of the tub.

Step 25. Connect the outlet hose back to the port at the bottom of the port. Slide the retaining clamp back in place with a pair of pliers to secure the hose.

Step 26. Slide each suspension rod through the opening on the outer tub. Secure the air pressure tube to the front rod with a zit-tie.

Step 27. Get someone to help you lift the washing machine upright. Secure the grounding wire to the cabinet using your wrench.

Step 28. Pry the control board housing out of the back of your washing machine using a flat-blade screwdriver. Pass the tub component wire connector through the opening in the dryer support panel.

Step 29. Connect the electrical connector back to the control board and secure the wire in the retainers. Slide the control board assembly back into the housing and apply the two bolts to secure it.

Step 30. Hook the four suspension rod springs back onto the tub cover. Snap your washing machine’s front panel back onto the cabinet and apply the two screws at the bottom with your Philips screwdriver to secure it.

Step 31. Connect the electrical connector back to the lid lock on the top panel. Snap the top panel back into the cabinet. Insert the drain hose back into the home drain.

Step 32. Connect the COLD and HOT water supply lines back to the ports at the back of your washing machine (secure them properly so there’s no chance of water leakage).

Step 33. Connect the venting back to your washing machine. Plug your washing machine’s power cord into the outlet and turn the water supply valve back on. Try running a spin cycle to make sure everything is working as it should.
