To clean your the drain pump in your Electrolux washing machine, here are the steps you’ll need to take…

Step 1. In order to prevent electrical damage, ensure that your washing machine is unplugged from the outlet before starting this repair.

Step 2. With a Philips screwdriver, take out the screws at the back of the machine holding the top panel. Slide the panel backwards about an inch or so, then lift it off the cabinet.

Step 3. Pull the detergent tray out, then press the tab to release it from the dispenser. Loosen the screws next to the detergent dispenser.

Step 4. Use your Philips screwdriver to remove the bolts at the top of the control panel. Unplug the wire connector from the control panel, then set the panel aside.

Step 5. With a flat-blade screwdriver, pry the cap off the main control board on the side of the cabinet. Disconnect the door lock wire harness.

Step 6. Open the door of your washing machine. With a flat-blade screwdriver or a pair of needle-nosed pliers, pry the retaining wire off the door gasket (take care not to puncture the seal).

Step 7. Peel the door gasket off the front panel. Tip your machine backwards, then place a support underneath it (get someone to help you if needed).

Step 8. Use a Philips screwdriver to loosen the screws at the bottom of the front panel. Remove the support then set the machine on its feet. Loosen the screws at the top of the front panel.

Step 9. Lift the front panel off the cabinet, then set it aside. Spread a rag on the floor of the cabinet near the drain pump.

Step 10. Use a pair of pliers to squeeze the clamps holding the inlet and outlet hoses connected to the drain pump, then slide them out of place.

Step 11. Pull each hose off the pump assembly (some water will spill out). Using a flat-blade screwdriver, clean out any dirt that may be clogging the ports on the pump.

Step 12. Use your screwdriver to clean out the sump hose and outlet hose as much as you can. Reconnect the inlet and outlet hoses to the ports on the drain pump, then slide the retaining clamps into place to secure it.

Step 13. Carefully lift the front panel and mount it on the cabinet. Use your Philips screwdriver to apply the screws at the top of the panel.

Step 14. Get someone to help you tip your washing machine backwards, then place a support underneath. Apply the screws at the bottom of the front panel.

Step 15. Set your washing machine back on its feet. Open your washing machine’s door. Fit the door gasket around the front panel.

Step 16. Using either a pair of needle-nosed pliers or a flat-blade screwdriver, fit the retaining wire around door gasket. Close the door of your machine.

Step 17. Plug the door lock to the control board. Snap the cap onto the control board. Plug the wire harness back into the control panel.

Step 18. Snap the control panel onto the front of the panel. Use your Philips screwdriver to apply the screws on the control panel. Slide the detergent tray into the dispenser.

Step 19. Place the top panel on the cabinet, then apply the screws at the back using a Philips screwdriver.

Step 20. Plug your washing machine back into the electrical outlet, then try running a wash cycle to make sure everything works properly.
