To replace the drain pump assembly in your front loader washing machine, here are the steps you need to take…

Step 1. In order to prevent electrocution or water leakage always ensure that you turn off your washing machine’s water supply and unplug the power cord before attempting any repairs.

Step 2. Use a Philips screwdriver to take out the screws holding the lower front panel of your washing machine.

Step 3. Detach the panel from your washing machine and set it aside.

Step 4. In order to avoid water spillage, ensure that you place a rag under the two hoses connected to the drain pump assembly.

Step 5. Press the clamps holding the two hoses to the drain pump assembly with a pair of pliers and slide the clamps out of place.

Step 6. Disconnect the outlet hose and the tub-to-pump hose from the drain pump assembly.

Step 7. Reach inside the washing machine and disconnect the two electrical connectors attached to the drain pump assembly.

2. Damaged Drive Motor

To replace a damaged drive motor in your washing machine, here’s what you’ll need to do…

Step 1. In order to avoid water leakage or electrocution always ensure that you turn off your washing machine’s water and power supply before attempting any repairs.

Step 2. Release the two clips holding the front section of your washing machine by inserting a putty knife under the main top panel.

Step 3. Detach the panel from the washing machine and set it aside.

Step 4. Take note of the positioning of the mode shifter and motor wires connected to the motor board and disconnect them.

Step 5. Use a pair of pliers to squeeze the end of the motor wire retainer to release the wires from the motor frame.

Step 6. Slide the drive belt off the drive motor pulley.

Step 7. Use a socket wrench to take out the mounting nuts at the bottom of the drive motor (you will need to tilt the drive motor forward a bit to completely take out the mounting nuts).

Step 8. Lift the drive motor off the mounting bracket and set it aside.

Step 12. Snap the wire retainer into the motor base.

Step 13. Connect each wire to its appropriate terminal on the new drive motor assembly.

Step 14. Snap the main front panel of your washing machine back in place.

Step 15. Plug your washing machine back to its power outlet and turn on the water supply, then ensure that everything is working properly by running a wash cycle.

Step 17. Snap the new water pressure switch into the control panel bracket.

Step 18. Connect the wires to the new water pressure switch.

Step 19. Connect the air pressure tube to the new water pressure switch.

Step 20. Put the control panel trim back in place and apply the screws to secure.

Step 21. Secure the rear panel to the trim by applying the screws.

Step 22. Apply the screws on the control panel bracket.

Step 23. Insert the lid switch through the hole in the main top panel and snap it back in place.

Step 24. Snap the lid switch wire retainer into the frame.

Step 25. Slide the main top panel back in place and apply the screws at the front of the washing machine to secure it.

Step 26. Snap the main front panel of your washing machine back in place.

Step 27. Reconnect the wire connectors to the control panel and snap the panel back in place. Apply the screws at the back to secure it.

Step 28. Connect the water inlet hoses back to the ports at the back of your washing machine.

Step 29. Plug your washing machine’s power cord back to an outlet and turn on the water supply. Afterwards, make sure everything is working properly by trying to run a wash cycle.
