  • Putty Knife
  • Philips screwdriver
  • Flat-blade screwdriver
  • 13mm, 7mm, 10mm And 19mm Sockets
  • Long And Short Extension For Sockets
  • Ratchet

Step 1. Prevent any chances of water leakage and electrocution by unplugging your washing machine’s power cord from the outlet and turning the water valve off before attempting this repair.

Step 2. Go to the back of your washing machine and use a Philips screwdriver to take out the screws holding the rear access panel. Pull the panel off you washer and set it aside.

Step 3. Disconnect the two electrical connectors from the stator assembly at the back of the tub. Release the water temperature sensor from the back of the tub.

Step 4. Remove the screw securing the grounding wire to the back of the machine using a Philips screwdriver. Loosen the two screws securing the bundle of wire harnesses to the meta plate.

Step 5. Insert a small screwdriver int the inner hole on he rotor to hold it in place. Take out the bolt holding the stator to the back of the tub using a 19mm socket wrench. Carefully pull the rotor assembly off the machine and set it aside.

Step 6. Loosen the six mounting bolts holding the stator assembly to the machine using a 10mm socket wrench. Carefully pull the stator off the tub and set it aside.

Step 7. Remove the screws at the back your washing machine securing the top panel with a Philips screwdriver. Slide the top panel backwards a few inches and lift it off the machine.

Step 8. Squeeze the clamp on the small hose attached to the top of the tub and slide it out of place. Pull the hose off the tub port.

Step 9. Use Philips screwdriver to loosen the screw clamp on the vent hose attached to the tub. Pull the vent hose off the tub.

Step 10. Pull the detergent drawer out and press the tab inside to take it out of the machine completely.

Step 11. Remove the four screws at the top of the control panel using a Philips screwdriver. Pry the control panel off the machine. Disconnect the electrical connector attached to the board. Set the control panel aside.

Step 12. Flip open the lower front access panel of your washing machine. Pull the emergency drain hose out.

Step 13. Use your Philips screwdriver to take out the two screws holding the drain pump filter housing. Close the lower access panel.

Step 14. Open your washing machine’s door. Remove the screws holding the door lock assembly the cabinet.

Step 15. Use a flat-blade screwdriver or a pair of needle-nosed pliers to take out the metal retaining band around the door boot seal (be careful not to damage the door seal). Peel the seal off the door opening.

Step 16. Remove the four screws at the top of the front panel using a Philips screwdriver. Lift the front panel carefully and pull it off your washing machine.

Step 17. Place a container under the emergency drain tube. Pull the hose’s cap off and drain out any water that may be stuck in the washing machine. Once all the water has drained out, put the hose’s cap back on.

Step 18. Use your pliers to squeeze the clamp on the tube attached to the top of the door boot seal and slide it out of place. Pull the tube off the door boot seal.

Step 19. Loosen the screw clamp on retaining band securing the door boot seal to the tub using a 7mm socket wrench. Carefully pry the door boot sea off the tub assembly.

Step 20. Squeeze the clamp on the dispenser hose attached to the tub assembly and slide it out of place. Pull the dispenser hose off the tub.

Step 21. Use a 15mm socket wrench to take out the two bolts holding the left counter-weight to the front of the drum. Pull the counter-weight off the machine and set it aside. Repeat this process with the right counter-weight.

Step 22. Untwist the wire ties holding the air pressure tube to the side of the tub. Squeeze the clamp holding the air pressure tube to the bottom of the tub and slide it out of place. Pull the pressure tube off the tub.

Step 23. Use a pair of pliers to squeeze the clamp on the hose at the front of the tub and slide it out of place. Pull the hose off the tub assembly.

Step 24. Disconnect the two electrical connectors attached to the heating element at the bottom of the tub. Use a Philips screwdriver to take out the screws holding the heater wires to the tub.

Step 25. Loosen the screw clamp on the tub-to-pump hose at the bottom of the tub assembly and pull the hose off the tub.

Step 26. Use a 13mm socket wrench to remove the bolt and washer nut holding the left shock absorber to the tub. Pull the shock absorber off the tub mount. Repeat this process with the right shock absorber.

Step 27. Use your screwdriver to take out the screw on the crosspiece above the dispenser assembly. Slide the detergent dispenser backwards.

Step 28. Carefully lift the right suspension spring and unhook it from the cabinet. Repeat this process with the right suspension spring and lower the tub assembly to the bottom of the cabinet (get someone to help you if needed).

Step 29. Guide the drum assembly through the front of the cabinet carefully. Turn the tub assembly to face upwards and lay it on your two wooden supports.

Step 30. Use a 10mm socket wrench with an extension to take out all the bolts holding the two halves of the drum together. Carefully lift the front half of the outer tub off the tub assembly and set it aside.

Step 31. There is a rubber gasket in the groove of the lower half of the outer tub. In order to prevent water leakage, we recommend replacing this seal whenever you split the drum.

Step 32. Use a Philips screwdriver to remove the six screws around the inner tub holding the balance ring. Use a putty knife to pry the balance ring out of the inner tub and set it aside.

Step 33. Take your new washing machine balance ring out of its packaging. Snap the new balance ring into the inner tub assembly and apply the six screws with your Philips screwdriver to secure it.

Step 34. Snap the front half of the outer tub onto the tub assembly and apply all the bolts with your socket wrench.

Step 35. Guide the drum assembly back into the cabinet. Hook the two suspension springs onto each side of the cabinet.

Step 36. Put the detergent dispenser back into place and apply the screw on the cross-piece to secure it.

Step 37. Push the two shock absorbers back into the mounts at the bottom of the tub. Apply the washer nuts and mounting bolts to secure them (put some blue thread locker on the bolts first).

Step 38. Connect the tub-to-pump hose back to the port at the bottom of your washing machine. Tighten the screw clamp with your Philips screwdriver to secure it.

Step 39. Connect each electrical connector to its corresponding terminal on the heating element. Secure the wires in the retainer.

Step 40. Attach the air pressure hose back to the port at the front of the tub and slide the retaining clamp in place to secure it.

Step 41. Connect the second hose to the port at the front of the tub and secure it by sliding the retaining clamp in place.

Step 42. Use the wire ties to secure the air pressure hose to the tub. Connect the detergent dispenser hose to the front of the tub assembly and secure it with the retaining clamp.

Step 43. Carefully fit the door boot seal back around the tub opening. Fit the inner retaining band around the door seal and use your screwdriver to tighten the screw clamp.

Step 44. Connect the little tube back to the port on the door boot seal. Slide the retaining clamp into place to secure it.

Step 45. Mount the two counter-weights back onto the tub assembly. Use your socket wrench to apply the two bolts on each weight (apply some blue thread locker to the bolts).

Step 46. Carefully lift the front panel and snap it onto the front of the cabinet. Apply the screws at the top of the front panel with your Philips screwdriver.

Step 47. Flip open the lower front access panel and use your Philips screwdriver to apply the two screws. Secure the emergency drain hose in the retainer.

Step 48. Reach into the washer behind the door seal and put the door lock back in place. Apply the screws to secure the door lock to the cabinet.

Step 49. Fit the door boot seal around the door opening carefully. Use a pair of pliers or a flat-blade screwdriver to fit the outer retaining band around the door boot seal (make sure not to damage the door boot seal).

Step 50. Connect the electrical connector to the terminal on the control board. Snap the control panel onto the front of the cabinet and apply the four screws at the top to secure it. Slide the detergent drawer into the housing.

Step 51. Go to the back of your washing machine. Place the motor stator on the back of the tub assembly and apply the six mounting bolts with your 10mm socket wrench to secure it.

Step 52. Use your screwdriver to apply the screw to secure the stator wires to the metal plate. Apply the screw to secure the grounding wire to the plate.

Step 53. Connect the electrical connectors to the terminals on the stator. Reconnect the temperature sensor wire connector.

Step 54. Put the rotor assembly over the stator. Insert a small screwdriver into the inner hole on the rotor assembly to stop it from moving. Apply the bolt to secure the rotor using a 19mm socket wrench.

Step 55. Snap the rear access panel back onto the cabinet and use your Philips screwdriver to apply the screws.

Step 56. Connect the hoses back to the ports at the top of the tub and secure them by sliding the retaining clamps in place.

Step 57. Lower the top panel onto the cabinet and use your Philips screwdriver to apply the screws at the back.

Step 58. Plug your washing machine’s power cord into the outlet and turn the water valve back on. Try running a washing cycle to make sure the problem has been fixed.

How To Replace Top Loader Washing Machine Balance Ring

Do the following to replace the balance ring in your top loader washing machine…

Step 1. Prevent any chances of electrocution by unplugging your washing machine’s power cord from the outlet before starting this repair.

Step 2. Loosen the two screws at the back of your washing machine holding the control panel. Detach the control panel from the cabinet and let it hang over the rear panel.

Step 3. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to release the two retaining clips holding the rear panel to the cabinet. Disconnect the lid switch electrical connector from the top of the cabinet.

Step 4. Lift the cabinet off the washer assembly carefully and set it aside. Pry the tabs holding the tub cover to the tub assembly using a flat-blade screwdriver.

Step 5. Release the tabs holding the balance ring in place with a small screwdriver. Pull the balance ring out of the tub and set it aside.

Step 6. Take your new washing machine balance ring out of its packaging. Place the new balance ring in the space between the inner tub and the outer tub. Turn the ring clockwise to lock it in place.

Step 7. Snap the tub cover back onto the tub assembly. Align the cabinet with the rear panel. Use your screwdriver to push the spring clips on the rear panel into the holes on the top panel.

Step 8. Connect the electrical connector back to the lid switch. Lower the top panel and snap it back onto the cabinet. Use your screwdriver to apply the two screws a the back. Plug the power cord into the outlet and run a spin cycle to see if the issue has been fixed.

4. Damaged Spider Arm And Bolt Assembly (Front Loaders Only)

Here’s what you’ll need to do to replace a damaged spider arm and bolt assembly in your washing machine…

  • 10mm, 19mm, 7mm, 13mm Sockets
  • 2 Wooden Blocks
  • Locking Pliers
  • Long And Short Extension With Ratchet For Sockets
  • Philips Screwdriver
  • Blue Thread Locker
  • Hammer
  • Small Container
  • Flat-blade Screwdriver

Step 1. In order to prevent electrocution or water leakage, we recommend unplugging your washing machine’s power cord from the outlet and turning the water supply off before proceeding.

Step 2. Remove the screws holding the rear access panel of your washing machine using a Philips screwdriver. Pry the panel off the machine and set it aside.

Step 3. Disconnect the two electrical connectors from the stator assembly at the back of your washing machine. Disconnect the electrical connector of the water temperature sensor.

Step 4. Use a screwdriver to take out the nut securing the grounding wire to the metal plate. Remove the two Philips screws holding the bundle of wires to the metal plate.

Step 5. Insert a small screwdriver into the lower opening on the rotor assembly. Take out the bolt holding the rotor assembly to the back of the machine using a 19mm socket wrench. Carefully pull the rotor off the tub and set it aside.

Step 6. Remove the six bolts holding the motor stator to the back of the tub using a 10mm socket wrench. Carefully pry the stator off the tub and set it aside.

Step 7. Use a Philips screwdriver to loosen the two screws holding your washer’s top panel. Pull the panel backwards a few inches and lift it off your washing machine.

Step 8. Slide the detergent dispenser out and press the little tab inside to completely release it from the washing machine.

Step 9. Squeeze the clamp on the little tube connected to the top of the washing machine and slide it out of place. Pull the tube off the port.

Step 10. Use your screwdriver to loosen the screw clamp on the vent hose at the top of the tub assembly. Pull the vent hose off the tub.

Step 11. Remove the four screws at the top of the control panel and pry the panel off the cabinet. Disconnect the wire harness from the control board and set the panel aside.

Step 12. Open your washing machine’s door. Remove the outer door seal retaining band with a flat-blade screwdriver or a pair of needle-nosed pliers (make sure not to damage the seal).

Step 13. Peel the door boot seal off the door opening. Remove the screws holding the door lock assembly to the front of the cabinet.

Step 14. Flip open the lower front access panel and pull the emergency drain hose out of the retainer.

Step 15. Place a container under the emergency drain hose. Pull the cap off the hose and drain out any water that may be stuck in the washing machine. Once you’ve drained out all the water, put the hose’s cap back on.

Step 16. Remove the two screws inside the drain pump filter housing. Use your Philips screwdriver to take out the four screws at the top of the front panel. Carefully lift the front panel and pull it off the washing machine.

Step 17. Squeeze the clamp on the little tube attached to the door boot seal and slide it out of place. Pull the tube off the door seal.

Step 18. Use your pliers to squeeze the clamp on the detergent dispenser hose attached to the front of the tub. Pull the hose off the tub.

Step 19. Use your 7mm socket screwdriver to loosen the screw clamp on the inner retaining band. Carefully take the inner retaining clamp off the seal and set it aside. Pull the door boot seal off the tub assembly.

Step 20. Remove the two bolts on the right counter-weight at the front of the tub assembly using a 13mm socket wrench. Pull the counter-weight off the machine. Repeat this process with the right counter-weight.

Step 21. Untwist the wire ties holding the pressure switch hose to the side of the tub assembly. Use your pliers to squeeze the metal clamp on the pressure switch hose attached to the front of the tub and slide it out of place. Pull the hose off the tub assembly.

Step 22. Press the clamp on the outlet hose at the front of the tub assembly and slide it out of place. Pull the outlet hose off the port.

Step 23. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screwdriver to loosen the screw clamp on the drain hose attached to the bottom of the tub. Pull the hose off the tub.

Step 24. Disconnect the electrical connectors for the heating element at the bottom of the tub. Release the heater wires from the retainers.

Step 25. Remove the bolt and washer nut holding the right shock absorber to the tub mount. Pull the shock absorber off the mount and set it aside. Repeat this process with the left shock absorber.

Step 26. Use your Philips screwdriver to take out the screw on the cross-piece holding the detergent dispenser. Move the detergent dispenser out of place.

Step 27. With the help of another person, carefully lift the two suspension springs and lower the tub assembly to the floor of the cabinet. Guide the drum assembly through the front of the cabinet.

Step 28. Turn the tub assembly to face upwards and lay it on the two wooden supports. Loosen all the bolts holding the two halves of the drum together using a 10mm socket wrench. Pull the upper half of the outer tub off the tub assembly.

Step 29. In the groove of the lower half of the outer tub, you will find a rubber seal. It is advised that you replace this seal whenever you split the tub in half in order to prevent water leaks.

Step 30. Lift the inner tub off the outer tub and turn it upside-down. Remove the six bolts holding the spider support arm to the outer tub using a 10mm socket wrench. Pry the spider arm assembly off the inner tub and set it aside.

Step 31. Take your new washing machine spider support arm out of its packaging. Apply some blue thread locker to the six spider arm mounting bolts. Place the new spider support arm on the inner tub and apply the bolts to secure it.

Step 32. Carefully lower the inner tub assembly into the bottom half of the outer tub. Put the upper half of the outer tub onto the tub assembly and apply the 10mm bolts to secure the two halves.

Step 33. Guide the tub assembly back into the cabinet carefully. Hook the two suspension springs onto the cabinet. Put the detergent dispenser back in place and secure it by applying the screw on the cross-piece above it.

Step 34. Put the two shock absorbers back into the mounts at the bottom of the tub assembly and apply the bolts to secure them (put some thread locker on the bolts first).

Step 35. Connect the drain outlet hose back to the port at the bottom of the tub assembly. Tighten the screw clamp to secure the hose.

Step 36. Connect each electrical connector to its corresponding terminal on the heating element. Secure the heater wires in the retainer.

Step 37. Secure the air pressure tube to the tub using the twist wires. Connect the tube to the port at the front of the tub and slide the retaining clamp in place to secure it.

Step 38. Connect the second hose to the port at the front of the tub assembly. Secure it by sliding the retaining clamp in place.

Step 39. Fit the door boot seal around the tub opening (make sure to line it up properly). Fit the inner retaining wire around the door seal and use a 7mm socket to tighten the screw clamp.

Step 40. Connect the dispenser hose to the port at the front of the tub and slide the retaining clamp in place to secure it.

Step 41. Connect the little tube to the port on the door boot seal. Slide the retaining clamp in place to secure the tube.

Step 42. Put the two counter-weights onto the front of the tub assembly and apply the mounting bolts with your 13mm socket wrench to secure them.

Step 43. Snap the front panel back onto the front of the cabinet. Use your Philips screwdriver to apply the screws at the top of the front panel.

Step 44. Open the lower front access panel and use your screwdriver to apply the screws in the detergent drawer housing.

Step 45. Reach inside the washing machine and put the door lock assembly back in place. Secure the door lock to the cabinet by applying the screws with a Philips screwdriver.

Step 46. Fit the door boot seal around the door opening (ensure that the seal isn’t damaged). Fit the outer retaining wire around the door boot seal with a pair of needle-nosed pliers or a flat-blade screwdriver.

Step 47. Reconnect the wire harness to the terminal on the control board. Snap the control panel into the cabinet and apply the four screws at the top to secure it. Slide the detergent drawer back into place.

Step 48. Put the stator onto the back of the tub assembly and apply the six bolts with your 10mm socket wrench. Connect the electrical connectors to the terminals on the stator.

Step 49. Put the rotor onto the stator and apply the bolt to secure it. Secure the stator wires by applying the screws on the metal plate. Put the grounding wire in place and apply the screw.

Step 50. Connect the electrical connector back to the water temperature sensor. Snap the rear panel onto the cabinet and use your Philips screwdriver to apply the screws.

Step 51. Connect the two hoses to the ports at the top of the tub and secure them with the retaining clamps.

Step 52. Slide the the top panel back in place and apply the screws at the back with your Philips screwdriver.

Step 53. Turn the water supply valve back on and plug the power cord back into the outlet. Try running a spin cycle to make sure the problem has been fixed.

5. Damaged Shock Absorbers (Front Loader)

Here’s what you’ll need to do to replace the shock absorbers in your washing machine…

Step 1. Prevent any chances of water leakage and electrocution by unplugging your washing machine from the outlet and turn the water supply off before starting this repair.

Step 2. Tilt the washing machine backwards a bit and support it with a wooden block. Take out the three screws at the bottom of the front panel with a Philips screwdriver. Carefully lower the machine back to the floor.

Step 3. Open the lower front access panel and pull the emergency drain hose out of the retainer.

Step 4. Use a Philips screwdriver to loosen the screws at the back of your washing machine holding the top panel. Slide the top panel backwards about an inch or so and lift it off the machine.

Step 5. Pull the detergent dispenser out and press the tab inside to completely release it from the washing machine.

Step 6. Use your Philips screwdriver to take out the two screws on the cross-piece securing the detergent dispenser to the control panel. Push the detergent dispenser backwards.

Step 7. Carefully pry the control panel off the front of your washing machine. Disconnect the wire harnesses from the control panel (make sure to note where each one goes).

Step 8. Open your washing machine’s door. Use your Philips screwdriver to take out the three screws holding the door lock assembly to the cabinet.

Step 9. With a pair of needle-nosed pliers or a flat-blade screwdriver, take out the metal retaining wire around the door boot seal (make sure you don’t damage the seal. Carefully peel the seal off the door opening.

Step 10. Remove the four screws at the top of the front panel using your Philips screwdriver. Lift the front panel and carefully pull it off your washing machine.

Step 11. Use a 13mm socket wrench to take out the upper and lower mounting bolts of the right shock absorber. Pull the shock absorber out of place. Repeat this process with the left shock absorber.

Step 12. Take your new washing machine shock absorber kit out of its packaging. Place the two new shock absorbers in the mounts on the tub and cabinet. Use your 13mm socket wrench to apply the mounting bolts.

Step 13. Carefully lift the front panel and snap it onto the cabinet. Apply the four screws at the top of the front panel to secure it.

Step 14. Open the door of your washing machine. Reach inside the machine and put the door lock back against the cabinet. Apply the three screws with a screwdriver to secure the lock to the cabinet.

Step 15. Fit the seal around the door opening carefully. Use your needle-nosed pliers or flat-blade screwdriver to fit the metal retaining wire around the door boot seal.

Step 16. Open the lower access panel and put the emergency drain hose back in place.

Step 17. Connect the wire harnesses back to the control panel. Snap the control panel onto the cabinet. Slide the detergent dispenser in place and apply the two screws on the cross-piece to secure it. Slide the detergent drawer into the housing.

Step 18. Slide the top panel back onto the washing machine. Use your Philips screwdriver to apply the screws at the back.

Step 19. Tilt the washing machine backwards a bit and place a wooden block underneath. Use your screwdriver to apply the screws at the bottom of the front panel.

Step 20. Lower the machine down to the floor. Turn the water supply valve back on and plug the power cord into the outlet. Run a spin cycle to see if the issue has been fixed.

6. Damaged Suspension Rods (Top Loaders Only)

Here’s what you’ll need to do to replace damaged suspension rods in your top loader washing machine…

Step 1. Shut your washing machine’s water supply and unplug the power cord from the outlet before proceeding with the repair in order to prevent any chances of electrocution and water leakage.

Step 2. Put some tape over your washing machine’s lid to secure it. Unscrew the two inlet hoses from the ports at the back of your washing machine. Make sure to keep a rag nearby in case water spills out).

Step 3. Use your pliers to squeeze the clamp on the drain hose at the back of your washing machine and slide it out of place. Pull the drain hose off the port.

Step 4. Remove the screws at the back of your washing machine holding the top panel to the cabinet. Lift the panel and support it by putting it up against a wall (do not rely on the hinges to support the panel).

Step 5. Lift one suspension rod then turn and pull the bearing and bearing cup off the end of the rod. Guide the rod through the opening on the cabinet and unhook the spring from it. Repeat this process with the three remaining rods.

Step 6. Lower your washer’s top panel and snap it back into the cabinet. Loosely thread the top panel screws at the back of your machine to support it.

Step 7. Tilt the washing machine backwards carefully and lay it on the floor. Slide each of the four suspension rods through the openings on the tub.

Step 8. Take your new washing machine suspension rod kit out its packaging. Slide each rod through the openings on the outer tub.

Step 9. Lift your washing machine upright and take out the screws at the back securing the top panel. Lift the top panel and support it.

Step 10. Put one bearing cup into the hole on the cabinet. Lift one rod then hook it onto the support spring and pass it through the hole in the top panel. Snap the bearing onto the end of the rod. Repeat this process with the other rods.

Step 11. Lower your washing machine onto the cabinet and snap it in place. Peel the tape off the machine’s lid.

Step 12. With your 1/4 inch nut-driver, apply the screws at the back of your washing machine to secure the top panel.

Step 13. Connect the COLD and HOT water supply lines back to the ports at the back of your washing machine (prevent any chances of water leakage by properly securing the hoses).

Step 14. Reconnect the outlet hose to the port at the back of the machine. Squeeze the retaining clamp and slide it into place to secure the hose.
