The steps below show you how to replace the door strike in your Whirlpool front loader washing machine…
Step 1. As a safety precaution, make sure to disconnect the appliance from the outlet and turn the water faucets off before starting this repair.
Step 2. Open the door of your machine. With a Torx-20 screwdriver, loosen the screws holding the strike to the door assembly. Take the part off the door, then discard it.
Step 3. Take your new washer door strike out of its packaging. Mount the new strike on the door assembly, then tighten the screws to secure it.
Step 4. Plug your washing machine back into the electrical outlet, then turn the taps back on. Turn the machine on to ensure that the door locks properly.

Take the following steps to replace the lid strike in your Whirlpool top loader washing machine…
Step 1. Before starting this repair, we recommend disconnecting your machine from the outlet in order to prevent electrical damage.
Step 2. Open the lid of your machine, then use a Torx -15 screwdriver to loosen the nuts holding the lid strike to the bottom of the top panel. Pull the strike off the panel, then discard it.
Step 3. Prepare the new lid strike for installation by taking it out of its packaging. Mount the new lid strike on the top panel, then apply the screws with your Torx screwdriver.
