Step 1. In order to prevent electrical damage, ensure that you disconnect your washing machine from the power outlet before starting this repair.

Step 2. Go to the back of the machine, then loosen the bolts holding the top panel using a Philips screwdriver. Pull the panel backwards a few inches, then lift it off.

Step 3. Go to the front of the machine, then pull the soap tray out. Press the little tab in the tray to release it from the housing.

Step 4. Use a Philips screwdriver to take out the two bolts next to the dispenser opening on the control panel.

Step 5. Take out the nuts holding the control panel to the front of the cabinet. Pry the panel off the mounting bracket. Disconnect the wire harness from the panel, then set it aside.

Step 6. Using a flat-blade screwdriver, pry the cover off the main control board. Disconnect the door switch wire harness from the control board.

Step 13. Secure the motor shaft using pliers. Loosen the blower wheel from the housing using a 7/16 inch socket wrench.

Step 14. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to pry off the retaining clamps holding the drive motor to the cabinet. Carefully pull the drive motor out of place.

Step 15. Try turning the motor pulley by hand. If a grinding or squeaking noise comes from the motor while turning, it indicates that the bearings have failed. To fix this issue, you’ll need to replace the entire drive motor.

Step 16. Once you’ve gotten your new drive motor, install it in the cabinet and snap the front and rear retaining clips.

Step 17. Plug the wire harness into the drive motor. Secure the motor shaft and tighten the blower wheel using your socket wrench.

Step 18. Lift the drum and belt into the cabinet. Reach underneath the drum, then loop the belt around the motor and idler pulleys in a zig-zag formation.

Step 19. To ensure that the belt is properly aligned, try rotating the drum by hand. Mount the front bulkhead on the drum, then use your Philips screwdriver to apply the bolts.

Step 20. Place the control board’s support bracket back against the front bulkhead, then apply the screws.

Step 23. Using your Philips screwdriver, apply the nuts at the top of the front panel. Open the door of your machine, then tighten the bolts to secure the lint filter housing.

Step 24. Get someone to help you tip your washing machine backwards and support it. Apply the nuts at the bottom of the front panel.

Step 25. Lower your dryer to the floor. Plug the user interface wire connector into the control panel.

Step 26. Snap the panel onto the front of the cabinet, then apply the nuts at the top using your Philips screwdriver.

Step 27. Place the top cover on the cabinet, then push it forwards. Tighten the nuts at the back of the panel.
