1.Washer’s Drum Is Overloaded
Do the following to deal with an overloaded washing machine…
Step 1. Turn off your washing machine’s water and power supply in order to avoid water leakage or electrocution.
Step 2. Open the door of your washing machine and inspect the quantity of clothes in it. The recommended quantity to put in your washing machine will vary depending on the size of your washer. However, the drum should be no more than 3/4 full. If the machine is overloaded, the clothes won’t be washed as thoroughly as they should.
Step 3. Turn on your washing machine’s water and power supply.
Step 4. Run a wash cycle to see if the issue has been resolved.
2.Using The Wrong Type Of Detergent
Not all detergents are designed for washing machines. If you use the wrong kind, your clothes will end up not being washed properly.
Ensure that you only use High Efficiency (HE) detergents when doing laundry. HE detergents are designed specifically for washing machine usage.
3.Washer’s Tub Is Dirty
If you don’t clean your washing machine for a long time, the dirt in the drum will start to affect your clothes. Here’s how to clean the drum of your washing machine…
Step 1. Open the door of your washing machine.
Step 2. Remove all clothes from your washer’s drum.
Step 3. Pour about two cups of white vinegar inside the washer’s drum (vinegar will help kill mold buildup and get rid of foul odors).
Step 4. Close the door of your washing machine.
Step 5. Turn on your washing machine’s water and power supply.
Step 6. Run a normal wash cycle but set the water temperature to the highest. If available, run a Tub Clean cycle.
Step 7. Once the cycle is completed, run a spin cycle to dry the drum.

1.Dirty Drain Filter
Here’s how to clean a dirty drain filter on your LG washing machine…
Step 1. Turn off your washing machine’s water and power supply in order to avoid water leakage or electrocution.
Step 2. Flip open the little panel at the lower front of your washing machine.
Step 3. Pull out the short capped hose under the panel.
Step 4. Place a container under the hose.
Step 5. Pull the hose’s cap off and let any water that may be stuck in the washing machine’s drum drain out.
Step 6. Once all the water has drained out, put the cap back on and push the hose back in place.
Step 7. Turn the knob beside the emergency drain hose and pull it out (this is the drain pump filter).
Step 8. Take the filter to a sink and clean out any debris or lint that may have accumulated in it.
Step 9. Rinse the filter thoroughly.
Step 10. Once the filter is clean, put it back in place and turn it clockwise to secure.
Step 11. Flip the filter housing cover back up.
Step 12. Turn on your washing machine’s water and power supply.

How To Replace LG Washing Machine Drain Pump — Front Loaders
Do the following to replace a defective drain pump on your LG front loader washing machine…
Step 1. Turn off your washing machine’s water and power supply in order to avoid water leakage and electrocution.
Step 2. Using a Philips screwdriver, take out the screws at the back of the washing machine holding the top panel.
Step 3. Slide the panel back a few inches and lift it off the washing machine.
Step 4. Pull the detergent drawer out and press the blue tab in the middle to take it out of the washing machine completely.
Step 5. Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the screws beside the detergent drawer housing.
Step 6. Use a flat-blade screwdriver, to release the clips at the back of the user control panel.
Step 7. Pull the user control panel off the washer and lay it on top of the machine.
Step 8. Flip open the little panel at the lower front of your washing machine.
Step 9. Pull out the emergency drain hose and remove the screw beside it with a Philips screwdriver.
Step 10. Pull the lower front panel off the washing machine.
Step 11. Open the door of your washing machine.
Step 12. Wedge a flat-blade screwdriver under the retaining wire around the door opening and work your way around until the entire wire comes off.
Step 13. Peel the door seal away from the door opening and push it into the washer’s tub.
Step 14. Reach inside the washer behind the door lock and detach the door lock’s electrical connector.
Step 15. Close the door of your washing machine.
Step 16. Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the five screws holding the main front of your washing machine (two at the top and three at the bottom).
Step 17. Lift the main front off your washing machine and set it aside.
Step 18. Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the three screws around the drain filter cap.
Step 19. Take a picture of the orientation of the drain pump before disconnecting anything.
Step 20. Disconnect the electrical connector of the drain pump assembly.
Step 21. Using a pair of pliers, press the clamps on the hoses connected to the drain pump and slide them out of place.
Step 22. Detach the hoses from the drain pump.
Step 23. Pull the drain pump assembly out of the washing machine.
Step 24. Get your new drain pump out of its pack.
Step 25. Install the new drain pump in your washing machine.
Step 26. Pass the emergency drain hose on the new drain pump through the provided opening.
Step 27. Connect the electrical connector of the new drain pump.
Step 28. Connect each hose to its appropriate port on the new drain pump (use the photos you took as reference).
Step 29. Secure the hoses to the drain pump by sliding the clamps back in place.
Step 30. Apply the three screws around the drain pump cap.
Step 31. Put the main front of the washing machine back on and secure it by applying the five screws (two at the top and three at the bottom).
Step 32. Open the door of your washing machine.
Step 33. Reach inside the washing machine and reconnect the door lock’s electrical connector.
Step 34. Fit the door seal back around the door opening.
Step 35. Fit the retaining band back around the door seal (you’ll need a flat-blade screwdriver to this).
Step 36. Close the door of your washing machine.
Step 37. Put the lower front panel of your washing machine back on and secure it by applying the screw beside the emergency drain hose.
Step 38. Snap the user control board of your washing machine back in place and apply the two screws beside the detergent drawer housing.
Step 39. Put the detergent drawer back in place.
Step 40. Put the main top of the washing machine back on and secure it by applying the screws at the back.
Step 41. Turn on your washing machine’s water and power supply.
Step 42. Run a wash cycle to see if the issue has been resolved.
How To Replace LG Washing Machine Drain Pump — Top Loaders
Do the following to replace the drain pump on your LG top loader washing machine…
Step 1. Turn off your washing machine’s water and power supply in order to avoid water leakage or electrocution.
Step 2. Go to the back of your washing machine.
Step 3. Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the screws holding the rear panel of the washing machine.
Step 4. Lift the rear panel off the washing machine.
Step 5. Press the clamps on the hoses connected to the drain pump and slide them out of place.
Step 6. Disconnect each hose from the washing machine.
Step 7. Using a 10mm socket wrench, remove the bolts holding the drain pump to the washer’s base.
Step 8. Disconnect the electrical connector of the drain pump.
Step 9. Release the wire sleeve from the retaining tabs on the base on the washing machine.
Step 10. Untwist the retaining wire holding the wire connector bundle to the frame of the washing machine.
Step 11. Disconnect the remaining drain pump connectors from the bundle of connectors.
Step 12. Pull the drain pump assembly out of the washing machine.
Step 13. Get your new drain pump out of its pack.
Step 14. Install the new drain pump in your washing machine and secure it by applying the 10mm bolts.
Step 15. Connect the hoses to the new drain pump and secure them by sliding the retaining clamps in place.
Step 16. Secure the wire sleeve to the tabs on the base of the washing machine.
Step 17. Connect the main wire connector to the drain pump.
Step 18. Connect the remaining wire connectors to the bundle of connectors.
Step 19. Secure the bundle to the frame using the retaining wire.
Step 20. Put the rear panel of the washing machine back on and secure it by applying the screws.
Step 21. Turn on your washing machine’s water and power supply.
Step 22. Run a wash cycle to see if the issue has been resolved.
