Front Loaders
Take the following steps to inspect your front loader Kenmore washing machine belt…
Step 1. In order to prevent any chances of electrocution, it is advised that you disconnect your washing machine’s power cord from the outlet.
Step 2. With a Philips screwdriver, take out the bolts holding the rear access panel to the cabinet. Lift the panel off the machine and set it aside.
Step 3. Carefully rotate the drive belt. While rotating the belt, run your finger on the grooved side of the belt.
Step 4. If you notice that the grooves of the belt are worn out, or the belt has become stretched out, it will need to be replaced.
Step 5. Once you are satisfied that your washing machine’s belt is in good condition, remount the rear panel on the cabinet, then tighten the nuts using your Philips screwdriver.
Step 6. Plug your washing machine’s power cord back into the outlet, then try running a spin cycle to ensure that the everything works properly.
Dryers
Follow the steps below to check your Kenmore dryer’s belt…
Step 1. In order to prevent any chances of electrocution, it is advised that you disconnect your washing machine’s power cord from the outlet before starting this repair.
Step 2. Loosen the bolts at the back of the machine holding the top panel. Pull the top panel backwards about an inch or so, then lift it off the cabinet.
Step 3. Take out the screws at the back of the control panel using a Philips screwdriver. Pry the panel off the mount, then set it on top of the cabinet.
Step 4. Loosen the nuts holding the control panel bracket to the front of the machine. Disconnect the door switch wires from underneath the panel bracket.
Step 5. Move the control panel bracket out of place, then set it on the cabinet. Open your washer’s door, then loosen the bolts at the bottom of the opening. Carefully lift the front panel off the cabinet and set it aside.
Step 6. Disconnect the moisture sensor and drum light wire connectors near the front bulkhead. Loosen the screws holding the bulkhead to the cabinet. Lift the bulkhead off the machine and set it aside.
Step 7. Reach underneath the drum and and try feeling the grooved side of the drive belt. If the grooves of the belt are worn out or the belt is stretched, the part will need to be replaced.
Step 8. Once you are satisfied that the belt is in good condition, remount the bulkhead on the cabinet, then tighten the screws using your Philips screwdriver.
Step 9. Plug the moisture sensor wire harness back in, then reconnect the drum light wire connector.
Step 10. Mount the front panel on the cabinet, then apply the screws at the bottom of the door opening.
Step 11. Push the control panel’s mounting bracket back into place, then reconnect the door lock wire harness.
Step 12. Using your Philips screwdriver, apply the bolts to secure the control panel bracket to the cabinet.
Step 13. Remount the control panel on the cabinet, then apply the bolts at the back using a Philips screwdriver.
Step 14. Place the top panel on the cabinet, then push it forwards. Tighten the screws at the back of the panel with your Philips screwdriver.

To replace your Kenmore washing machine’s drive belt, follow the steps below…
Front Loaders
Do the following to replace your front loader Kenmore washing machine belt…
Step 1. Ensure that your washing machine’s power cord is disconnected from the outlet before starting this procedure in order to prevent electrocution.
Step 2. Take out the bolts holding the rear access panel to the cabinet using a Philips screwdriver. Pry the panel off the cabinet and set it aside.
Step 3. If still intact, take the drive belt off the motor pulley and drive pulley, then discard it. Prepare the new drive belt for installation by taking it out of its packaging.
Step 4. Loop the new belt around the two pulleys (ensure that the belt is turned with the grooved side facing inward).
Step 5. Snap the rear access panel back onto the cabinet, then apply the bolts using your Philips screwdriver.
Step 6. Plug your washing machine’s power cord back into the outlet, then ensure that everything works properly by running a wash cycle.

To replace the drive belt in your Kenmore dryer, follow the steps below…
Step 1. In order to prevent any chances of electrocution, it is advised that you disconnect your washing machine from the outlet before starting this repair.
Step 2. Go to the back of the machine, then take out the bolts holding the top panel. Slide the top panel backwards a few inches, then lift it off the cabinet.
Step 3. Loosen the screws at the back of the control panel. Using a flat-blade screwdriver if needed, pry the control panel off the mounting bracket. Set the panel on top of the machine.
Step 4. Take out all the screws holding the control panel’s mounting bracket to the front of the machine. Move the bracket out of place, then disconnect the door lock wire harness.
Step 5. Open your washing machine’s door, then take out the screws at the lower section of the door. Carefully lift the panel off the machine, then set it aside.
Step 6. Detach the light assembly and moisture sensor wire connectors at the top and bottom of the front bulkhead.
Step 7. Loosen the Philips screws holding the front bulkhead to the cabinet. Lift the bulkhead off the dryer and set it aside.
Step 8. Reach underneath the drum, then push the idler pulley inwards to release the tension on the drive belt (if still intact). Unhook the drive belt from the motor pulley and idler pulley.
Step 9. Slide the old belt off the drum, then discard it. Prepare your new dryer belt for installation by taking it out of its packaging.
Step 10. With the grooved side facing inwards, loop the new belt around the dryer’s drum. Reach underneath the drum and loop the new belt around the two pulleys in a zig-zag formation.
Step 12. Slowly rotate the drum by hand to ensure that the drive belt is properly aligned. Mount then front bulkhead back on the cabinet, then use your screwdriver to apply the bolts.
Step 13. Plug the light assembly and moisture sensor connectors back in. Carefully mount the main front panel on the cabinet, then use your Philips screwdriver to apply the bolts near the door opening.
Step 14. Plug the door switch wire connector back in. Push the control panel mounting brace back into place, then tighten the screws using your Philips screwdriver.
Step 15. Snap the control panel onto the cabinet. Secure the panel by applying the screws at the back using a Philips screwdriver.
Step 16. Mount the top panel on the cabinet, then push it forwards. Secure the top panel by applying the bolts at the back with your Philips screwdriver.
Step 17. Reconnect your appliance to the outlet, then ensure that everything works properly by running a cycle.
