Do the following if your LG washing machine is showing the DE error code…

Step 1. Press the power button to turn your machine off.

Do the following to remove your LG washing machine drum…

Step 1. Turn off your washing machine’s water and power supply to avoid water leakage or electrocution.

Step 2. Go to the back of your washing machine.

Step 3. With the help of a Philips screwdriver, remove the screws at the back of the washing machine securing the top panel.

Step 4. Once the screws are removed, slide the panel back a few inches and lift it off the washing machine.

Step 5. Pull the soap drawer out and press the blue tab in the middle to take it out of the washing machine completely.

Step 6. Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the two screws beside the detergent drawer housing.

Step 7. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to release the clips at the back of the user control panel.

Step 8. Detach the user control panel from the front of your washing machine and lay it on top of the cabinet frame.

Step 9. Flip open the filter housing cover at the lower front of your washing machine.

Step 10. Pull out the emergency drain hose and take out the screw beside it with a Philips screwdriver.

Step 16. Using your Philips screwdriver, remove the five screws holding the main front of your washing machine (two at the top and three at the bottom).

Step 17. Lift the main front up and pull it out of the washing machine.

Step 18. Pull the cross member under the detergent drawer housing out.

Step 19. Lift the detergent drawer housing out of place.

Step 20. Using a pair of pliers, press and release the clamp holding the detergent hose to the tub of the washing machine.

Step 21. Push the detergent housing out of the way and lay it on top of the washer’s cabinet frame.

Step 22. Remove the screws holding the circular weight around the front of the drum using a Philips screwdriver.

Step 23. Get a 13mm socket wrench.

Step 25. Take a picture of the wire connectors attached to the lower front of the washing machine’s tub (this is the heater element).

Step 26. Disconnect each wire from the heater element.

Step 27. Undo the nut at the center of the heater element and pull the heater element out of the washing machine.

Step 28. Go to the bottom of the washing machine’s tub and remove the screw holding the main drain hose to the tub.

Step 29. Disconnect the drain hose from the washing machine.

Step 30. Using your Philips screwdriver, Disconnect any wires or that are still connected to your washing machine’s tub.

Step 31. Go to the back of your washing machine.

Step 32. Using your Philips screwdriver, remove the screws securing the rear panel of your washing machine.

Step 33. Lift the rear panel up and pull it out off the washing machine.

Step 34. Using a socket wrench with a 19mm cap, remove the bolt at the center of the motor assembly at the back of the washing machine’s tub.

Step 35. Pull the motor assembly out of the washing machine.

Step 36. Switch to a 10mm socket wrench and take out the six bolts securing the drive motor stator to the back of the washer’s tub.

Step 37. Detach the drive motor stator from the back of the washing machine’s tub.

Step 38. Disconnect the electrical connectors of the drive motor stator connected to the drum.

Step 39. Disconnect any other wires connected to the back of the washing machine’s tub.

Step 41. Remove the springs at the top of the drum connected to the cabinet.

1.Clogged Drain Filter (Front Loaders Only)

Do the following to clear a clogged drain filter on your LG washing machine…

Step 1. Turn off your washing machine’s water and power supply in order to avoid water leakage or electrocution.

Step 2. Place some towels or rags on the ground in front of your washing machine.

Step 3. Flip open the little panel at the lower front of your washing machine.

Step 4. Pull out the capped hose under the panel.

Step 5. Place a container under the hose.

Step 6. Pull the hose’s cap off and drain out any water that may be stuck in your washing machine’s drum.

Step 7. Once all the water has drained out, put the hose’s cap back on and push the hose back in place.
