Step 1. In order to prevent any chances of electrical damage, it is advised that you disconnect your washing machine’s power cord from the outlet before starting this repair.

Step 2. Go to the back of the washing machine, then use a 1/4 inch nut-driver to loosen the screws holding the control panel to the cabinet. Set the panel face-down on the lid of the machine.

Step 3. Unplug the wire harness from the timer assembly under the control panel (you can use a small flat-blade screwdriver to make this easier).

Step 4. Using needle-nosed pliers, pull the knob pin out of the hole at the back of the timer. Lift the control panel, then pull the timer knob and skirt off the shaft.

Step 5. Use a 3/16 inch nut-driver to take out the bolt holding the timer assembly to the control panel.

Step 6. Set the control panel face-down on the cabinet. Push the timer assembly to the right a bit, then lift it off the panel.

Step 7. Discard the old timer assembly, then take the new one out of its packaging. Mount the new timer on the control panel and push it towards your left to lock it in.

Step 8. Plug the wire harness into the terminal on the new timer assembly. Lift the control panel, then use your nut-driver to apply the screw to secure the timer.

Step 9. Snap the knob skirt and shaft back onto the control panel. Put the control panel back in place, then secure it by applying the screws at the back with your nut-driver.

Step 10. Reconnect your washing machine to the electrical outlet, then try running a cycle to ensure that everything works properly.

Step 1. Make sure to unplug your dryer’s power cord from the electrical outlet before starting this repair in order to prevent electrocution.

Step 9. Snap the timer assembly onto the cabinet, then apply the bolts at the back using your 1/4 inch nut-driver.

Step 10. Plug your washing machine back into the electrical outlet, then make sure everything works properly by running a cycle.
