1. Damaged Drain Pump

If your machine’s drain pump has a crack in it, water will leak out from under the cabinet during cycles. Tip the machine backwards a bit and see if the leak is coming from the drain pump.

3. Damaged Detergent Dispenser

To replace a damaged detergent dispenser in your Electrolux washing machine, here are the steps you’ll need to take…

Step 1. Make sure to unplug your washing machine’s power cord from the outlet and turn the water faucet off before starting this repair.

Step 2. Spread a rag on the floor underneath the water supply hoses to catch any water leaks. Unscrew the COLD and HOT water inlet hoses from the ports at the back of your washing machine (use pliers if needed).

Step 3. With a Philips screwdriver, remove the bolts at the back of the machine holding the top panel. Slide the panel backwards about an inch or so, then lift it off the machine.

Step 8. Use your Philips screwdriver to loosen the screws holding the rear panel to the cabinet. Take the panel off and set it aside.

Step 9. Slide the soap tray out of the dispenser, then press the button inside to release it from the housing.

Step 10. With your Philips screwdriver, loosen the two screws next to the detergent dispenser.

Step 11. With a screwdriver, loosen the screw-clamp holding the hose to the bottom of the detergent dispenser. Pull the hose off the dispenser.

Step 12. Unplug the electrical connectors attached to the inlet valve assembly (ensure that you take note of where each connector goes).

Step 13. Use a Philips screwdriver to take out the nuts holding the dispenser assembly to the support rail.

Step 14. Cut the zip-tie holding the vent hose and re-circulation hose to the detergent dispenser.

Step 15. Using a pair of pliers, squeeze the spring clamp holding the air vent hose to the dispenser assembly, then slide it out of place. Pull the vent hose off the detergent dispenser.

Step 16. Pull the detergent dispenser assembly out of the cabinet, then set it aside. Remove your new washing machine dispenser assembly from its packaging.

Step 17. Pull the vent tube off the old dispenser assembly, then transfer it to the new one.

Step 18. Connect the air vent hose to the new dispenser assembly, then slide the spring clamp into place to secure it.

Step 19. Secure the re-circulation hose and vent hose to the new dispenser assembly using a zip-tie. Secure the new dispenser assembly by applying the screws at the top of the cross-bar.

Step 20. Plug each wire connector into its appropriate terminal on the inlet valve assembly.

Step 23. Mount the rear access panel on the cabinet, then use your Philips screwdriver to apply all the screws.

Step 24. Put the retainer on the drain hose, then apply the screws to secure it. Put the support bracket on the cabinet and secure it by applying the screws.

Step 25. Reconnect the power cord grounding wire and wire connector. Snap the wire retainer into the support bracket.

4. Damaged Tub Seal

Tools Needed…

  • Philips Screwdriver
  • 7/16, 3/8, and 5/16 Inch Socket Wrench
  • Wood Block
  • Zip-Tie
  • Torx 20 Screwdriver
  • Flat-blade Screwdriver
  • 12mm Open Ended Wrench

Step 1. In order to prevent electrical damage and water leaks, ensure that your washing machine’s power cord is unplugged from the outlet, and the water supply faucet is turned off.

Step 2. Use a pair of pliers to unscrew the COLD and HOT water supply hoses from the ports at the back of your washing machine (some water will spill out, so ensure that you keep a rag nearby).

Step 3. Using a Philips screwdriver, take out the screws at the back of the machine holding the top panel to the cabinet. Pull the panel backwards, then lift it off the machine.

Step 4. Slide the soap tray out, then press the tab inside to release it from the dispenser.

Step 5. Use your screwdriver to loosen the two bolts beside the dispenser opening. Take out the screws at the top of the control panel.

Step 6. Unplug the wire harness attached to the control board, then set the panel aside. Unplug the large wire connector from the control board at the side of the cabinet.

Step 11. Pull the light assembly off the door boot seal. Cut the zip-tie on the tube at the top of the door gasket. Pull the tube off the gasket.

Step 12. Using a 7/16 inch socket wrench, take out all the bolts holding the counter-weight to the front of the tub assembly.

Step 13. Push the 12mm wrench onto the pointed end of the upper mounting pins connecting the shock absorbers to the tub. Pull the pins out of the shocks. Pull the two shock absorbers out of the mounts at the front of the tub.

Step 14. Go to the back of the machine and unplug the power cord wire connector and grounding wire. Use a pair of pliers to release the power cord wire retainer.

Step 15. Use your screwdriver to take out the screws holding the support bracket to the rear panel. Take the bracket off the cabinet and set it aside.

Step 16. Loosen the screws holding the drain hose retainer. Take the retainer off the hose. Use your Torx 20 screwdriver to remove all the bolts holding the rear panel to the cabinet.

Step 17. Lift the rear panel off the machine and set it aside. Slowly rotate the drive pulley and take the drive belt off the two pulleys.

Step 18. Unplug the electrical connectors attached to the motor assembly at the bottom of the tub (make sure to take note of where each connector goes). use a pair of pliers to release the wire retainer from the motor.

Step 19. With a 5/16 inch socket wrench, take out all the bolts holding the drive motor to the bottom of the tub assembly. Carefully pull the drive motor out of the cabinet, then set it aside.

Step 20. Use a screwdriver to take out the nuts holding the motor control board to the cabinet. Pry the cap off the control board, then unplug the wire connectors attached to it (make sure to take note of where each plug goes).

Step 21. Release the wire retainers on the motor control board. Take the board out of the cabinet and set it aside.

Step 22. Pry off the electrical connectors attached to the heating element at the bottom of the tub (be sure to note where each connector goes).

Step 23. Use a pair of pliers to release the wire retainers at the bottom of the tub. Place the 12mm wrench on the pointed end of the upper mounting pins of the rear shock absorbers. Pull the pins out of the mounts, then pry the shock absorbers off the tub.

Step 24. Spread a rag underneath the tub near the drain pump. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw-clamp holding the sump hose to the bottom of the tub assembly. Pull the hose off the tub (some water will spill out).

Step 25. Use a pair of pliers to squeeze the clamp holding the sump hose to the air chamber, then slide it out of place. Pull the sump hose off the air chamber.

Step 26. Release the spring clamp holding the air pressure tube to the top of the air chamber, then slide it out of place, pull the air pressure tube off the air chamber.

Step 27. Unplug the wire connectors attached to the water inlet valve assembly (be sure to note where each plug goes).

Step 28. Use your screwdriver to loosen the screws holding the two detergent dispenser to the cross-bar.

Step 29. Loosen the screw-clamp holding the vent hose to the top of the tub assembly, then pull the hose off the tub.

Step 30. Carefully pull the dispenser and inlet valve assembly out of the cabinet, then set it aside.

Step 31. Using a 5/16 inch socket wrench, loosen the bolts holding the drain pump to the bottom of the cabinet.

Step 32. Pull the drain pump off the cabinet, then unplug the electrical connector attached to it.

Step 33. Use a pair of pliers to squeeze the clamp on the outlet hose attached to the drain pump, then slide it out of place. Set the pump assembly aside.

Step 34. Using your screwdriver, loosen the screws holding the right suspension spring strap to the cabinet. Take the spring strap off. Reapply the spring screws to the cabinet without the strap. Repeat this process with the left suspension spring.

Step 35. With the help of another person, carefully lift the tub assembly and unhook the two suspension springs from the cabinet. Carefully lower the tub to the floor of the cabinet.

Step 36. Carefully guide the tub assembly out of the cabinet, then turn it upwards. Set the assembly on two wooden supports.

Step 37. Using a 3/8 inch wrench, take out the bolts holding the two halves of the outer tub together.

Step 38. Lift the front half of the outer tub off the assembly, then set it aside. Using a flat-blade screwdriver, pry the rubber seal out of the groove in the rear half of the outer tub.

Step 39. Discard the old door gasket, then remove the new one from its packaging. Apply some liquid soap of the groove of the outer tub, then push the new seal into place using a flat-blade screwdriver.

Step 40. Put the front half of the outer tub onto the tub assembly, then apply all the bolts using your 3/8 inch wrench.

Step 41. Hook the two suspension springs onto the tub. Carefully guide the tub assembly back into the cabinet.

Step 42. With the help of another person, lift the two suspension springs and hook them onto the cabinet.

Step 43. Use your screwdriver to loosen the spring retaining strap screws. Put the spring retaining straps on the cabinet, then reapply the screws to secure them.

Step 44. Reconnect the outlet hose to the port on the drain pump, then slide the spring clamp into place to secure it. Plug the wire connector into the pump assembly.

Step 45. Reinstall the drain pump in the cabinet, then secure it by applying the bolts. Push the dispenser and inlet valve assembly into place above the tub.

Step 46. Secure the dispenser assembly to the cross-bar by applying the screws with your screwdriver.

Step 47. Reattach the vent hose to the port at the side of the tub, then tighten the screw-clamp to secure it.

Step 48. Plug each electrical connector into its appropriate terminal on the inlet valve assembly.

Step 49. Reconnect the air pressure tube to the air chamber at the side of the tub, then secure it by sliding the retaining clamp in place.

Step 50. Reattach the sump hose to the port at the bottom of the tub, then use your screwdriver to tighten the screw-clamp.

Step 51. Connect the other end of the sump hose to the air chamber, then slide the spring clamp into place to secure it.

Step 52. Push the two rear shock absorbers into the mounts at the bottom of the tub. Push the upper mounting pins into place to secure the shocks.

Step 53. Snap the wire retainers into the holes at the bottom of the tub. Plug each electrical connector into its appropriate terminal on the heating element.

Step 54. Snap the wire retainer into the motor control board. Reconnect the electrical connectors to the terminals on the motor control board. Install the control board in the cabinet, then apply the screws to secure it.

Step 55. Plug the wire harnesses back to the terminals on the drive motor assembly. Carefully lift the drive motor and mount it at the bottom of the tub. Use your socket wrench to apply the motor mounting bolts.

Step 56. Go to the front of the machine and push the front shock absorbers into the tub mounts. Push the upper mounting pins into the shock absorbers.

Step 57. With the grooved side turned inwards, loop the drive belt around the two pulleys.

Step 58. Put your washing machine’s rear access panel back on, then use a screwdriver to apply all the nuts.

Step 59. Put the drain hose retainer back on and apply the nuts using your screwdriver. Place the support bracket on the rear panel, the apply the nuts with your Philips screwdriver.

Step 60. Snap the power cord wire retainer into the support bracket. Reconnect the power cord connector and grounding wire.

Step 61. Lift the counter-weight and carefully mount it onto the tub assembly. Use your wrench to apply the counter-weight bolts.

Step 62. Reconnect the inlet hose to the port at the top of the door boot seal, then secure it using a zip-tie. Push the light assembly into the port at the top off the door gasket.

Step 63. Lift the front panel carefully and snap it on the cabinet. Use your screwdriver to apply the bolts at the top of the panel.

Step 64. Carefully tip your washing machine backwards, then place a support underneath the front. Use your Philips screwdriver to apply the four screws at the bottom of the panel.

Step 65. Remove the support from under the washing machine. Open the door of your machine, then fit the door gasket around the panel. Using either a pair of needle-nosed pliers or a flat-blade screwdriver, fit the retaining band around the door gasket.

Step 66. Reconnect the large wire connector to the control board at the side of the cabinet. Plug the wire connector back into the control panel, then snap the panel onto the cabinet.

Step 67. Use your screwdriver to apply the nuts at the top of the control panel. Apply the two screws next to the detergent dispenser. Slide the soap tray back into the dispenser.

Step 68. Place the top panel on the cabinet, then apply the screws at the back using your Philips screwdriver.

Step 69. Reconnect the HOT and COLD water supply hoses to the ports at the back of your washing machine (ensure that the hoses are secured properly in order to prevent water leakage).
