Does The Electrolux Washing Machine Have a Filter?
Your Electrolux washing machine has two types of filters; the water inlet filter and the lint filter. The water inlet filters can be found inside the supply ports at the back of your washing machine. These filters prevent dirt in the water supply from getting into your machine.
The lint filter on the other hand, is found at the lower front section of the machine, or in the sump hose depending on the model. This filter gathers lint and debris from your clothes when washing.
How To Clean Electrolux Washing Machine Sump Filter — Solved
The steps below show you how to clean the sump filter in your Electrolux washing machine…
Step 1. In order to prevent electrical damage, ensure that your washing machine’s power cord is disconnected from the outlet before starting this repair.
Step 2. Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the bolts at the back of the machine holding the top panel to the cabinet. Pull the top panel backwards about an inch or so, then lift it off the machine.
Step 3. Pull the detergent tray out, then press the button inside to release it from the dispenser assembly. Set the soap tray aside.
Step 4. Open the door of your washing machine. Using either a flat-blade screwdriver or a pair of needle-nosed pliers, pull the retaining band off the door gasket (make sure not to puncture the door seal).
Step 5. With the help of another person, tip your washing machine backwards and place a block of wood underneath the front panel.
Step 6. Using your Philips screwdriver, loosen the four screws at the bottom of the front panel. Carefully take the support out from underneath the machine. Set your washer back onto its feet.
Step 7. Use your screwdriver to remove the screws next to the detergent dispenser opening. Loosen the bolts at the top of the control panel.
Step 8. Carefully lift the front panel and take it off the cabinet. Unplug the two electrical connectors from the front panel, then set the panel aside.
Step 9. Using a 7/16 inch socket wrench, loosen the four bolts holding the lower front counter-weight to the tub assembly. Carefully lift the weight off the machine and set it aside.
Step 10. Use a 7mm nut-driver to loosen the screw-clamp holding the sump hose to the bottom of the tub assembly. Pull the hose off the tub (keep a rag nearby in case water spills out).
Step 11. Use a pair of pliers to press the clamps on the other ends of the sump hose attached to the circulation pumps and drain pump, then slide them out of place. Pull the hoses off the ports (some water will spill out).
Step 12. Take the entire sump hose out of the cabinet. Pry the sump filter out of the hose (if needed, use a flat-blade screwdriver).
Step 13. Take the sump filter to a sink and clean out any debris and lint that may have accumulated in the filter.
Step 14. Once you’ve properly cleaned the filter, push it back into the sump hose. Install the hose in the cabinet, then connect the smaller hoses to their corresponding ports. Slide the retaining clamps into place to secure them.
Step 15. Connect the large end of the sump hose to the port at the bottom of the drum. Use your 7mm nut-driver to tighten the screw-clamp.
Step 16. Lift the counter-weight and mount it on the tub assembly. Apply the four bolts using your socket wrench.
Step 17. Carefully lift the front panel. Plug each electrical connector into its appropriate terminal on the front panel.
Step 18. Snap the front panel onto the cabinet. Using your Philips screwdriver, apply the screws at the top of the control panel.
Step 19. Tip your washing machine backwards carefully and support it (if needed have someone assist you). With your Philips screwdriver, apply the screws at the bottom of the front panel.
Step 20. Set your washing machine back onto its feet. Apply the two screws next to the detergent drawer housing. Slide the soap tray back into the dispenser.
Step 21. Open your washing machine’s door. Fit the door boot seal around the opening of the door.
Step 22. Use your needle-nosed pliers to fit the metal band around the door boot seal.
Step 23. Place the top panel on the machine, then use your Philips screwdriver to tighten the screws at the back.
Step 24. Plug your washing machine’s power cord back into the electrical outlet, then try running a cycle to make sure everything works properly.

Step 2. Slide the soap tray out of the dispenser, then release it from the housing by pressing the tab inside. Set the detergent tray aside.
Step 3. Go to the back of your washing machine and use your Philips screwdriver to remove the bolts holding the top panel to the cabinet. Pull the top panel backwards about an inch or so, then lift it off the machine.
Step 4. Pry the lower front access panel off the machine and set it aside. Open the door of your machine and remove the retaining wire around the door gasket using a flat-blade screwdriver.
Step 5. Peel the gasket off the front panel. Use your screwdriver to loosen the bolts securing the control panel to the cabinet. Pry the panel off the cabinet and unplug the wire connector attached to it.
Step 6. Use your screwdriver to take out the bolts at the top and bottom of the front panel. Carefully lift the panel off the cabinet, then disconnect the wire harness attached to it. Set the front panel aside.
Step 7. Use a pair of pliers to squeeze the clamp holding the sump hose to the drain pump assembly, then slide the clamp out of place.
Step 8. Pull the hose off the drain pump (some water may spill out, so make sure to keep a rag nearby).
Step 9. Insert a pair of needle-nosed pliers into the port on the drain pump assembly and pull out any debris that may be clogging it.
Step 10. Once you’ve pulled the debris out, try turning the pump filter knob to ensure that the issue has been fixed.
Step 11. Reconnect the sump hose to the drain pump port. Use your pliers to squeeze the retaining clamp and slide it into place.
Step 12. Lift the front panel and plug the wire harness back in. Snap the front panel back onto the machine. With your Philips screwdriver, apply the bolts at the top and bottom of the panel.
Step 13. Open your washing machine’s door and fit the door boot seal around the opening. Using your needle-nosed pliers, fit the retaining wire around the gasket.
Step 14. Snap the lower front access panel back onto the washer. Plug the wire harness into the terminal on the control panel. Snap the control panel onto the cabinet, then use your Philips screwdriver to apply the screws.
