LG Washing Machine Keeps Filling With Water — How To Fix
There are two things that can make your washing machine keep filling with water; a defective water inlet valve or a defective water pressure switch. Here’s how to find out which part is at fault…
Step 1. Turn on your washing machine’s water and power supply.
Step 2. Run a normal wash cycle.
Step 3. Shut off the power when it starts filling. If the washer is still filling with water, the inlet valve is defective. However, if it only overfills when the washer is on, the water pressure switch is at fault. Here’s how to fix both problems…
Replacing An LG Washing Machine Water Pressure Switch — Top Loaders
Do the following to replace the water pressure switch on your LG top loader washing machine…
Step 1. Turn off your washing machine’s water and power supply to avoid electrocution or water leakage.
Step 2. Go to the back of your washing machine.
Step 3. Using a Philips screwdriver, take out the five screws holding the rear panel of the user control housing (three at the top and two at the bottom).
Step 4. Pull the panel off the washing machine.
Step 5. Detach the control housing from the washing machine and lay it on top of the washer’s lid.
Step 6. The water pressure switch will be mounted next to the water inlet valve. Disconnect the electrical connector of the pressure switch.
Step 7. Press the tabs on the pressure switch to release it from the washing machine.
Step 8. Using your Philips screwdriver, take out the screws holding the rear panel of the washing machine.
Step 9. Lift the panel up and pull it out of the washing machine.
Step 10. Press and release the clamp on the pressure switch tube connected to the washer’s tub.
Step 11. Detach the tube from the washer’s tub.
Step 12. Untwist the retaining wire holding the tube.
Step 13. Reposition the washer’s control housing.
Step 14. Lift the lid of your washing machine.
Step 15. Using a putty knife, release the clips holding the main top of your washing machine.
Step 16. Lift the main top of the washing machine and support it.
Step 17. To release the pressure switch tube from the wire harness, cut the cloth tape holding the tube.
Step 18. Untwist the second retaining wire holding the tube.
Step 19. Pull the pressure switch and tube out of the washing machine.
Step 20. Get your new water pressure switch out of its pack.
Step 21. Insert the tube of the new water pressure switch through the control base.
Step 22. Wrap the tube around the support rod and connect it to the port on the washer’s tub.
Step 23. Secure the tube to the port by sliding the retaining clamp in place.
Step 24. Secure the tube to the main wire harness at the control base using a zip-tie.
Step 25. Lower the main top of your washing machine and snap it back in place.
Step 26. Close the lid of your washing machine.
Step 27. Detach the control housing from the washer once more and lay it on the lid of the machine.
Step 28. Snap the new water pressure switch in place on the control base and connect the electrical connector.
Step 29. Put the main rear panel of the washing machine in place and secure it by applying the screws.
Step 30. Reposition the control housing.
Step 31. Put the rear panel of the control housing back in place and secure it by applying the five screws.
Step 32. Turn on your washing machine’s water and power supply.
Step 33. Run a wash cycle to see if the issue has been resolved.

Do the following to replace the water pressure switch on your LG front loader washing machine…
Step 1. Turn off your washing machine’s water and power supply to avoid water leakage or electrocution.
Step 2. Go to the back of your washing machine.
Step 3. Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the screws at the back of the washer holding the top panel.
Step 4. Slide the panel back a few inches and lift it off the washing machine.

Step 5. Detach the solenoid wires connected to the water inlet valve (ensure that you take note of the position of each wire).
Step 6. Using a pair of pliers press the clamps on the hoses connected to the water inlet valve and slide each clamp out of place.
Step 7. Detach each hose from the water inlet valve (take note of the positioning of each hose).
Step 8. Remove the screws beside the water inlet ports holding the water inlet valve to the washer with a Philips screwdriver.
Step 9. Pull the old water inlet valve out of your washing machine.
Step 10. Get your new water inlet valve out of its pack.
Step 11. Install the new water inlet valve in your washing machine and secure it by applying the two screws beside the water inlet ports.

LG Washing Machine Making Noise When Filling — How To Fix
Do the following if your LG washing machine is making noise when filling with water…
Step 1. Turn off your washing machine’s water and power supply to avoid electrocution or water leakage.
Step 2. Disconnect the water inlet hose from the back of your washing machine.
Step 3. While connected to your water supply, take the end of the water inlet hose and put it in a bucket.
Step 4. Fully open the water supply valve and monitor the flow of the water. If the water pressure is too high, it could produce noise in the machine. It could also lead to leakage.
Step 5. Get a plumber to take a look at the pressure of your water supply. Your water pressure should be at least 20psi for the washer to function properly. However, it shouldn’t exceed 120ps.
Step 6. Connect the water inlet hose back to your washing machine.
Step 7. If your water pressure is very high, it is advised that you only partially open the water valve when washing. This will reduce the pressure of the water and produce less noise.
