Samsung Washing Machine Overflowing With Water

If your Samsung washing machine overflows, here are the causes and how to fix them…

1.Water Pressure Switch

The water pressure switch on a Samsung washer controls the amount of water supplied to the washer. It is responsible for shutting off the water supply once it has reached the appropriate level in the washer.

If this part is defective, it won’t turn off the water supply when it should. Here’s how to replace the water pressure switch on a Samsung washing machine…

Step 1. Turn off your washing machine’s water and power supply.

Step 2. Go to the back of your washing machine.

Step 3. Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the screws at the back of the washer holding the top panel.

Step 4. With the screws removed, slide the top panel back a bit and lift it out of place.

Step 5. The water pressure switch will be mounted on the cabinet wall inside the washer towards the front. Disconnect the wire harness from the pressure switch.

Step 6. Using a pair of pliers, press the tabs behind the pressure switch to release it from the cabinet frame.

Step 7. Press the metal clamp on the black hose connected to the switch and slide it out of place.

Step 8. Disconnect the black hose from the water pressure switch.

Step 9. Dispose of the old water pressure switch.

Step 10. Get your new water pressure switch out of its pack.

Step 11. Connect the black hose to the new water pressure switch.

Step 12. Slide the metal clamp back in place to secure the hose to the pressure switch.

Step 13. Snap the new in place on the washer’s cabinet frame.

Step 14. Connect the wire harness to the terminal on the water pressure switch.

Step 15. Slide the top panel back in place on top of the washing machine.

Step 16. Reapply the screws to the panel to secure it.

Step 17. Turn on your washing machine’s water and power supply.

Step 18. Run a wash cycle to see if the issue has been resolved.

Note: Please keep in mind that the process of replacing this part will vary a bit depending on the type of washing machine you have. If you couldn’t follow the procedure above on your washer, please contact a washer repair service to take a look at the situation.

2.Water Inlet Valve

The water inlet valve receives commands from the water pressure switch. The pressure switch tells the inlet valve when to turn the water on and off. If the water inlet valve is defective, it won’t open and close properly as it should.

As a result, the washer’s tub will keep filling with water even though the water pressure switch has sent a command to turn the water off. Here’s how to replace a defective water inlet valve on a Samsung washing machine…

Step 1. Turn off your washing machine’s water and power supply o avoid electrocution and water spills.

Step 2. Disconnect the water inlet hose from the back of the washing machine.

Step 3. Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the screws at the back of the washing machine securing the top panel.

Step 4. With the screws taken out, slide the panel back a bit and lift it out of place. The water inlet valve will be found inside the washer on the other side of the water inlet port.

Step 5. Take note of the positioning of the wire harnesses connected to the water inlet valve and disconnect each one.

Step 6. Remove the screws holding the water inlet valve (these will be found beside the water inlet port).

Step 7. Lift the water inlet valve out of the washer’s cabinet (you can’t take it out completely yet).

Step 8. You will find some black hoses connected to the water inlet valve; take note of the positioning of each one.

Step 9. Press the metal clamps on each hose and slide them out of place.

Step 10. With the clamps removed, disconnect the hoses from the water inlet valve.

Step 11. Lift the water inlet valve out of the washer.

Step 12. Take your new water inlet valve out of its pack.

Step 13. Connect each hose to its appropriate port on the water inlet valve.

Step 14. Slide each clamp each place and secure the black hose to the water inlet valve.

Step 15. Mount the water inlet valve on the washer’s cabinet frame.

Step 16. Reapply the screws to secure the water inlet valve to secure it.

Step 17. Connect each wire harness to its corresponding terminal on the water inlet valve.

Step 18. Place the washer’s top panel back in position.

Step 19. Using your Philips screwdriver, screw the top panel to secure it.

Step 20. Connect the water inlet hose to the back of your washer (ensure that the hose is securely connected).

Step 21. Turn on your washing machine’s water and power supply.

Step 22. Run a wash cycle to see if the issue has been resolved.

Note: The replacement process will vary depending on the type of washer you have. If the procedure above didn’t work for you, refer to the video below for another way to replace water inlet valve…

Samsung Washing Machine Drain Overflow

If your washing machine drain is overflowing, it is most likely a result of improper drain hose installation. To ensure that water flows out freely into your home drain, ensure that the drain hose is inserted at least 6 inches into the drain.

The hose should also not be inserted more than 8 inches. This will help ensure that water flows freely. You should also ensure that the drain hose is suspended at a minimum height of 18 inches and a maximum height of 96 inches.

Another thing that can cause your drain to overflow is a clogged drain pipe. Remove the drain hose from your home drain. Afterwards, inspect the home drain for any blockages.

If you see any debris take it out. However, if the blockage occurred further down the drain pipe, you will have to contact plumber to clear it.

Note: This applies to both front loader and top loader washing machines.

Why Is My Samsung Washing Machine Overflowing?

If you notice that your Samsung washing machine is overflowing with water, there are two things that could be at fault; the water inlet valve and the water pressure switch.

These two things are responsible for controlling the amount of water that enters the washer. If either one is damaged, the washer will overfill with water or not fill at all.
