How To Replace Belt On Amana Front Loader Washing Machine

Do the following to replace the belt in an Amana front loader washing machine…

Step 1. Ensure that your washing machine’s power supply is turned off before attempting this repair in order to prevent electrocution.

Step 2. Using a 1/4 inch nut-driver, loosen the screws holding the rear access panel of your washing machine. Pull the panel off the cabinet and set it aside.

Step 3. If still intact, pull the drive belt off the motor pulley and drive pulley. Take your new washing machine drive belt out of its packaging.

Step 4. Loop the new drive belt around the two pulleys (the grooved side should face inwards).

Step 5. Snap the rear access panel back onto the cabinet and use your nut-driver to apply the nuts. Plug your machine back into the power outlet and try running a wash cycle to make sure everything works properly.

Step 1. Shut your washing machine’s water supply and disconnect the power cord from the outlet before starting this repair in order to avoid water leaks or electrocution.

Step 2. Put some tape over the lid of your machine to secure it. Release the spring clamp holding the drain hose to the back of your machine. Pull the hose off the port.

Step 3. Disconnect the two water supply lines from the ports at the back of your machine (spread a towel on the floor under the hoses to catch any water leaks).

Step 4. Tilt your machine backwards and lay it on the floor. Use a 5/16 inch nut-driver to take out the nuts holding the motor shield to the bottom of the machine. Pull the belt cover off the machine and set it aside.

Step 5. If still intact, take the drive belt off the transmission pulley and motor pulley. Remove your new washing machine drive belt from its packaging.

Step 6. Fit the new drive belt around the two pulleys (make sure the grooved side of the belt faces inwards. Put the belt guard back onto the tub and apply the bolts with your nut-driver to secure it.

Step 7. Carefully lift your machine onto its feet (get someone to help you if needed). peel the tape off the lid.

Step 8. Reattach the drain hose to the port at the back of your machine and secure it with the spring clamp.

Step 9. Connect the two water inlet lines to the ports on your washing machine (make sure to secure the hoses properly so water can’t leak out).

Step 10. Plug your washing machine into its power supply and turn the water valve back on. Test the machine by running a wash cycle.
