How To Replace Timer In Front Loader Washing Machine

Do the following to replace a faulty timer in your front loader washing machine…

Step 1. In order to prevent any chances of electrocution, ensure that you unplug your washing machine’s power cord from the outlet before starting this repair.

Step 2. Use a Philips screwdriver to remove all the screws at the back of your washing machine holding the top panel. Slide the panel backwards a few inches and lift it off your washing machine.

Step 3. Pull the timer knob and knob skirt off the control panel (use some string to pull them off if needed). Use your screwdriver to take out the screw on the control panel holding the timer.

Step 4. Reach in through the back of the control panel and pull it out of place. Disconnect the electrical connector from the timer and set the timer aside.

Step 5. Take your new washing machine timer out of its packaging. Connect the electrical connector to the new timer assembly. Install the new timer in your washing machine and secure it by applying the screw on the control panel.

Step 6. Push the timer knob and knob skirt back onto the timer shaft. Put the top access panel back onto your washing machine and apply the screws at the back with your Philips screwdriver. Plug the power cord back into the outlet and run a wash cycle to make sure everything is working properly.

How To Replace Timer In Top Loader Washing Machine

Here’s how to replace a damaged timer in your top loader washing machine…

Step 1. Unplug your washing machine from its power supply before starting this repair in order to prevent electrocution.

Step 2. Use your Philips screwdriver to take out the screws at the back of your washing machine holding the control panel rear access cover. Pull the cover off and set it aside.

Step 3. Use a small screwdriver to take out the locking pin inside the hole at the back of the timer. Pull the timer knob and knob dial off the control panel and set them aside. Use your screwdriver to take out the screw on the control panel holding the timer.

Step 4. Pull the timer out of place and disconnect the electrical connector attached to it. Set the old timer assembly aside and take your new washing machine timer out of its packaging.

Step 5. Pull the locking pin out of the new timer with your screwdriver. Position the new timer assembly on the control panel and apply the screw to secure it. Put the timer knob and knob dial onto the timer shaft.

Step 6. Push the timer locking pin back in. Connect the electrical connector to the new timer assembly. Put the rear access panel back on and apply the screws with your Philips screwdriver. Plug your washer’s power cord back in and try running a wash cycle to make sure everything works properly.
