How To Replace Frigidaire Laundry Center Washing Machine Drain Pump

Do the following to replace the drain pump assembly in your Frigidaire laundry center washing machine…

Step 1. Make sure to unplug your washing machine’s power cord and turn off the water supply before attempting any repairs in order to prevent any chances of water leakage and electrocution.

Step 2. Pull your washing machine forwards and use a screwdriver to detach the venting from the dryer. Unscrew your washing machine water supply lines (you should keep a rag nearby in case water spills out of the hoses).

Step 3. Pull the drain hose out of your home drain. Apply some tape to the lid of your washing machine to secure it. With the help of another person, tilt your washing machine backwards and lay it on its back.

Step 4. Use a pair of pliers to press the clamp on the hose connected to the pump assembly and slide the clamp out of place. Disconnect the hose from your washing machine.

Step 5. Take out the three mounting bolts holding the drain pump assembly to your washing machine with a 5/16 inch nut driver. Pull the drain pump off the tub. Release the retainers on the pump using a pair of pliers.

Step 6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the pump assembly and set it aside. Take your new drain pump assembly out of its packaging. Transfer the black ring on the old drain pump to the new one (this is the pump seal).

Step 7. Connect the electrical connectors to the new drain pump assembly and secure the retainers. Connect the new pump assembly to your washing machine and apply the mounting bolts to secure it.

Step 8. Connect the drain hose to the new pump assembly and slide the retaining clamp in place to secure. Lift your washing machine upright. Peel the tape off your washing machine’s lid and insert the drain hose back into your home drain.

Step 9. Reconnect the water inlet hoses to the inlet ports at then back of your washing machine (make sure that the connections are properly secured in order to prevent electrocution).

Step 10. Reconnect the vent back to your washer. Plug your washing machine back to its power supply and turn on the water supply. Run a wash cycle to make sure everything is working properly.

Here’s what you’ll need to do to replace the drain pump in your Frigidaire top loader washing machine…

Step 1. In order to prevent any chances of electrocution, make sure to unplug your washing machine from its power source before attempting any repairs.

Step 2. Put some tape over the lid of your washing machine in order to secure it. Insert a putty knife under the main top panel of your washing machine to release the two clips securing it.

Step 3. Lift the main top panel and support it. Use a Philips screwdriver to remove the two screws holding the main front panel in place. Pull the panel off your washing machine and set it aside.

Use a pair of pliers to press the clamps on the hoses attached to the drain pump assembly and slide the clamps out of place. Disconnect the hoses from the pump (keep a rag nearby in case water spills out of the hoses).

Step 5. Use a Philips screwdriver to take out the mounting screws holding the drain pump assembly to the base of your washing machine. Pull the pump off your washing machine and set it aside.

Step 6. Take your new washing machine drain pump assembly out of its packaging. Install the drain pump on the base of your washer and apply the mounting screws to secure it. Connect the two hoses to the drain pump assembly and slide the retaining clamps in place to secure them.

Step 7. Connect the electrical connectors to the new pump. Lift your washing machine’s main front panel and snap it back in place. Apply the two screws at the bottom to secure it. Lower the main top panel and snap it in place.

Step 8. Peel the tape off the lid of your washing machine. Plug your washing machine back to its power supply and turn on the water supply. Run a wash cycle to make sure everything is working properly.
