With the right tools and a bit of patience, you’ll be able to get your washer running properly. So, without further ado, let’s get right to it…

Admiral Washing Machine Won’t Agitate — Solved

If your Admiral washing machine won’t agitate, here are issues to look for…

1. Failed Water Inlet Valve

Your washing machine will not agitate unless the drum has been filled first. If your washing machine isn’t filling with water, you’ll need to change the inlet valve. Here’s how to do this…

Step 1. Unplug your washing machine’s power cord from the outlet and turn the water supply valve off before attempting this repair in order to prevent water leaks and electrocution.

Step 2. Unscrew the COLD and HOT water inlet hoses from the back of your washing machine using a pair of pliers (keep a rag to clean any water leakage).

Step 3. Release the two metal clips holding the control panel to the cabinet by inserting a flat tool such as a putty knife underneath it. Disconnect the control panel from the mounting base and lay it on the lid.

Step 4. Squeeze the retaining clamp on the hose attached to the water inlet valve and slide it out of place. Pull the inlet tube off the valve.

Step 5. With a Philips screwdriver, take out the two mounting screws holding the inlet valve assembly to the cabinet.

Step 6. Disconnect the water inlet valve electrical connector from the control board and set the inlet valve aside.

Step 7. Get your new washing machine water inlet valve ready for installation. Insert the fill spout of the new inlet valve into the opening at the top of the cabinet. Secure the new valve by using your screwdriver to apply the mounting screws.

Step 8. Connect the electrical connector of the water inlet valve to the appropriate terminal on the control board.

Step 9. Lift the control panel and snap it back into the housing. Reconnect the two water supply lines to the ports at the back of your washing machine (prevent any chances of water leakage by securing the hoses properly).

Step 10. Plug your washing machine’s power cord back into the outlet and turn the water supply valve back on. Make sure the issue has been fixed by running wash cycle.
